Cranmore Cricket Club 1st team report

On losing the toss Cranmore were asked to bat and lost an early wicket with 12 on the board against a depleted Westonzoyland side Nick Pang (46) joined Matt Dury (28) and these scored at 6 an over until after 10 overs and with 64 runs on the board Pang was bowled, Dury and Steve Allen (2) joined together but soon departed together with the score on 84 after 15 overs a partnership of 55 occurred between Ian Cox (42) and Phil Veale (16) and at 140 for 5 after 24 overs the game looked interesting Darren Butt (32) joined Cox and these two put the game out of reach of a spirited westonzoyland side and put on 63 in 14 until Cox was caught a mini-collapse occurred and it was left to Butt and Andrew Baker (13 no) to take the score past the 230 mark until 2 wickets fell in the last over to leave Cranmore all out for 233

In Reply Steve Allen (5-18) and Andy Curtis (3-39) started with control and accuracy and after 6 overs Westonzoyland found themselves 12 for 3 with Allen taking 2 and Curtis 1 a brief rest bit occurred for Westonzoyland until Allen took 3 wickets in 4 balls and with Curtis taking 2 Westonzoyland found themselves 38 for 8 with 1 wicket remaining the game looked over but the last pair had other ideas and took the score to 81 until Nick Pang (1-12) took the last wicket with a smart catch and to give Cranmore a victory by 152 runs many thanks to Match Ball sponsor Peppers Café in Shepton Mallet
