cranmore v taunton deane 3rd
On losing the toss Cranmore were inserted but got off to a great start with Phil Veale (34) and Matt Dury (22) putting on 44 for the 1st wicket inside 12 overs before Veale was dismissed Nick Pang (80) joined Dury but Taunton’s bowlers tied the Cranmore batsman down and Dury was dismissed with 70 on the board after 23 overs Steve Allen (36) joined Pang and both quickly got into their stride with many a boundary occurring and these put on 110 runs in 15 overs before both Pang and Allen were dismissed in quick succession and after 38 overs Cranmore were 181 for 4 but against a spirited Taunton side Cranmore lost 3 wickets for 23 runs in the last 7 overs and also lost the services of Andy Trott with a leg injury
In replay Tauntons batsmans took the Cranmores bowlers to task and quickly reached their 50 in the 8th over before Allen (1-44) struck but Taunton’s batsman kept hitting boundaries but when the 100 had been reached Pang (1-42) gained another wicket in the 18th over after Allen and Pang had finished their spell the bowling was limited and the ball was thrown to Neil Stevenson (3-22) who quickly responded with 2 wickets but the Taunton opener was still there and guided the other batsman through until with only 3 needed he was dismissed by Stevenson but the game was up and Taunton scored the winning runs 1 over later in the 38th over to win by 5 wickets
